How to Remove Bug Spray that has Stained the Carpet

There are many pesticides that will permanently discolor carpets, especially if they are over-applied. A purple tint is common, but yellow/brown can also occur. It is important to not make a promise or guarantee about the results of the cleaning attempt when you are trying to salvage something that is heavily damaged. You should be paid for your knowledge and efforts even if your attempt fails.

1. The sequence of using Avenge Pro spotter followed by All Solv Extreme and sometimes a second application of Avenge Pro may help. Try this on a small area.

2. Filter Free has also helped. Some cleaners report that using a bar of Fels Naptha soap to create foam and working the foam into the discolored area can help (I have never tried that approach).

3. If you don’t have success with these approaches, sometimes the carpet can be stretched an inch or so, and the discoloration cut off. Otherwise, it is time to replace the carpet or live with it.
